How does the mining calculator work?

Compared to the S21 Standard (17.5 J/TH), this represents a reduction in energy consumption per terahash of around 37 percent; compared to the S21 XP (13.5 J/TH), it is around 21 percent. Power draw for the standard model sits at 3,498 watts (according to data sheet), which, despite the increased hashrate, remains on par with the previous generation. Bitmain continues to rely on air cooling, keeping installation requirements low and making the S23 accessible for mid-sized mining setups as well.

Assessment: S21 XP vs. S23: What Makes Sense Today?

Technologically, the S23 is clearly the next step. The decisive question, however, is: when does this step actually pay off?
